- Jayson Bernard Santos, an award-winning documentalist, published a lengthy Facebook post.
- He took to Facebook to call out Raffy Tulfo.
- Raffy blamed the victim for agreeing to sexual abuse.
Jayson Bernard Santos recently called out Raffy Tulfo on another sexist remark. The award-winning documentalist took to Facebook to express his insight on the matter. He also urged the radio commentator to stop his primitive thought process.
In the said Facebook post, Jayson wrote about the episode on Raffy’s show. An aspiring Army soldier experienced sexual harassment after a military officer demanded oral sex to get an easy way to the force.
“Another day, another sexist comment from this disgusting radio commentator pig. Stop this.
“On March 8 episode of Wanted sa Radyo, commentator Raffy Tulfo lashed out at an aspiring Army soldier, who became a victim of sexual harassment after a military officer allegedly asked him to touch his private parts and perform oral sex in exchange for getting his easy way in the military force.”
Jayson continued that Raffy laughed for the most part of the episode right in front of the said victim.
“Laughing for the most part of the segment, the perennial cad told the officer, ‘Colonel, sayang daw ang pagts*** sa iyo, kung hindi daw (sic) siya maging sundalo’.”
Jayson also observed that Raffy went on to blame the victim on such complaint. Jayson then criticized why the network agreed on showing the complainant’s face and real name. The radio commentator also added that the sexual abuse was the victim’s fault.
“He then drifted away from the issue and lectured the complainant. ‘Bakit ka kasi pumayag? Bakit mo sinubo iyong ari ni Colonel?’ Hiyang-hiya na iyong complainant na naka-superimpose pa iyong buong pangalan sa ere, tapos ipinakita pa iyong mukha. Tulfo added that he doesn’t deserve to become a soldier since the sexual abuse was also his fault. Clearly, this commentator misdiagnosed the root problem by his hostile style of sexism.
Jayson acknowledged that a lot of women experience sexual harassment more. However, men still experience the same thing and victim-blaming affects sexual abuse survivors. Jayson also added that most victims remain afraid and frightened of confronting their traumas.
“While there is understandably a good deal of discussion surrounding how victim-blaming affects female rape and sexual harassment survivors, many people are quick to dismiss the same when it comes to males. This vile, densest of the dense practice of saying ‘he should have fought back’ (ridiculous assumption that all men have the mad physical strength to fight back to invalidate some claims), ‘he must have wanted it’ (homophobic nonsense response), ‘why did you wait so long to report?’ (many victims were afraid to confront their traumas, thus the need for healing), must cease.”
Jayson questioned Raffy on condemning male victims of sexual abuse and continued that victims shouldn’t even experience the blame.
“Why condemn male victims of sexual assault and rape? No male and female deserves to be blamed. This narrative should be changed.”
Jayson ended his post by discouraging people like Raffy and Raffy Tulfo himself. He also added a demand to stop tolerating this kind of attitude.
“Because people like Raffy Tulfo and those who were amused by his foolery put both sexes at risk for sexual assault. Stop this. Stop this now.”
