- Veteran singer Jaya explained her three consecutive gongs on “Tawag Ng Tanghalan.”
- The 47-year old singer re-assured that what she did was part of the job as a judge.
In an interview with PUSH.com, veteran singer Jaya finally broke her silence about the controversial episode of “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” where she gave “gong” verdicts to the contenders of the show thrice in a row last February.
The 47-year old singer explained her decision as a judge of the said competition.
“Alam niyo kung bakit? Mahirap po kasing masira ang kredibilidad mo. Alam mo na ang naririnig mo tapos pagbibigyan mo. So is it about being fair? Or is it about naaawa ka?” Jaya clarified.
According to her, singing competition contestants should give their best when performing to impress the judges.
“So for me, if you know you are going to sing and you know that this is a competition, you get that one shot. You do it like it’s the last time you are going to sing. Now if I see something wrong, magbibigay ako ng chance. But at the same time, I have to be fair to the others,” she continued.
As a seasoned singer, Jaya already knew how to distinguished a singing talent amidst numerous numbers of singing hopefuls.
Jaya ended her statement that she respect and love all the aspiring singers on TNT.
“Pero mahal po namin ang lahat ng contenders ng ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan‘ dahil ‘pag wala po sila, wala pong show,” she ended.
