- Jaya signed under Cornerstone Talents.
- She also judges for It’s Showtime: Tawag ng Tanghalan.
- She, then, added that she will have a concert with Jason Dy and Jay-R.
Jaya departed from GMA Network in 2016, her home for more than 15 years. She, then, transferred to ABS-CBN Corporation and her new management in Cornerstone Talents.
She also expressed her gratitude that even after many years in show, she can still do what she loves to do.
Jaya also acknowledged that a lot has changed after signing under a different management company.
“I cannot be thankful enough, napakaswerte ko dahil I’ve been singing since 12 years old and I’m turning 48 and I’m still doing the same thing. The only difference is that the management that I’m with—Cornerstone—is really not just a management group. They’re also like my mentors and they tell me what exactly should be done, yung meron talagang guidance from them.”
Jaya expressed her happiness on working with other Cornerstone talents and added that she experiences camaraderie with the other artists.
She then conveyed that she perfectly fits in with the management company and their artists.
“Then, yun nga, yung camaraderie sa mga artists, kasi mahirap matagpuan yung mga kasamahan sa industriya na lahat kayo nagmamahalan, nagrerespetuhan. This is exactly what we’re trying to show everyone: that it is possible to work with people, different ages, different genres, as long as you put your minds together, you can create something. And that’s also for me as a performer, talagang feeling ko, na-swak ako sa Cornerstone kasi kung ano yung gusto ko—yung pagkanta—nasu-supply nila yung knowledge and everything. So for me, I’m really happy, I feel like I fit in.”
Jaya currently goes on It’s Showtime as a judge for their segment, Tawag ng Tanghalan. She acknowledged that the judging gig gave her a stepping stone which boosted her career. She feels respected as a singer and performer when on the show.
“With ABS din also, napakalaking tulong na nakikita ako sa ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan,’ narerespeto ako bilang isang performer and singer, so I really feel really blessed.”
Jaya will also have a concert with The Voice Philippines Season 2 winner, Jason Dy and King of R&B Jay-R. PEP.ph asked the three singer-slash-performers about the viewers’ expectation on their untitled concert in August 2018. The said concert will also be the first time that the “Soul and R&B Royalties” will collaborate for a concert.
Jay-R acknowledged how they all have a different flavor and will remain classic. He also added that they will show their similarities and differences through the concert.
“That’s actually why we’re doing this concert, e, kasi we each have a different flavor. Kaya ginagawa namin para makita ng tao na malawak din ang R&B and Soul, hindi lang isang tunog. Marami din yang generations, it evolves. But at the same time, it stays classic—the sound of soul, and ipapakita namin yan through the concert.”
Jaya also revealed that they will show different kinds of performances. This will bring a different sound to Soul and R&B. She also expressed her excitement on working with both Jason and Jay-R.
“I think lang for us, iba-iba talaga yung sound na pwede namin i-put and at the same time, we can dance, we can try rapping. Ang dami naming pwedeng ipasok na old stuff pero importante, makahabol ako so ngayon pa lang mag-e-exercise na ako! But I’m so excited with these two guys to sing with me.”
Jason, however, considers the concert a dream come true. He also added that Jaya and Jay-R made him fall in love with R&B when he was still young and expressed his gratitude for the upcoming concert.
“Actually, itong dalawang ito talaga are the artists that made me fall in love with R&B. Sila yung mga pinapakinggan ko noong bata ako that made me fall in love with R&B. It’s a dream come true for me kasi ako yung pinakabata, pinakabago sa ano, pinaka-newbie sa industry, so parang napakalaking blessing sa akin, especially I’m celebrating my third year after winning The Voice. Sobrang thankful ako for this kasi sobra at saka R&B, kailangan marinig din ng lahat na iba-iba nga ang styles ng R&B, there’s not just one sound. So I’ll bring something different, si Miss Jaya will bring something different, si Kuya Jay-R, so there’s something for everybody.”
