The family-centric “Seven Sundays” tells the story of the Bonifacios and how they mended their broken bonds to rally for their father who was diagnosed with cancer.
The family drama was a big hit last year earning P271 million worldwide. It stars Ronaldo Valdez as Manuel Bonifacio, the father who sees his sickness as a chance to bring together his four children, played by Aga Muhlach, Dingdong Dantes, Enrique Gil, and Cristine Reyes.
2. Northern Lights: A Journey to Love
“Northern Lights: A Journey to Love” features not just a heartwarming story about a father and his son but also the beautiful northern lights in the Alaskan night sky.
Piolo Pascual is a man who will face his responsibilities as a father for the first time and come to terms with the new person it has made him. It also stars child actor Raikko Mateo and the upcoming leading lady, Yen Santos.
3. The Achy Breaky Hearts
“The Achy Breaky Hearts” is a movie with lessons in self-love. It features not one but two men vying for Jodi Sta. Maria’s heart. She plays Chinggay, a woman in her 30’s looking for love.
After years of being single, she is now being pursued by handsome men (Ian Veneracion and Richard Yap). In the end, She learns that happiness can come from loving one’s self.
4. Unexpectedly Yours
The tandem of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla is one that can span generations as anyone in the whole family can enjoy watching their new movie, “Unexpectedly Yours,” with the rising love team of JoshLia (Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto).
The movie, which earned P218 million worldwide, tells the story of the patience of love and how it can overcome obstacles, including a hardened heart.
5. In My Life
Brace for another tear jerker featuring the one and only Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, who plays a down-on-her luck mom trying to cope with being kicked out of the house by her ex-husband by moving in with her gay son, Mark, and his boyfriend, Noel.
She has a hard time adjusting to their situation but in a tragic end, she learns to accept Noel as part of their family. Luis Manzano and John Lloyd Cruz portray the son and boyfriend respectively.
