- Many netizens pointed out the similarities between Contessa and Wildflower.
- Glaiza de Castro elaborated the differences between the two.
- She emphasized that Contessa will not be using a political theme.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Glaiza de Castro reacted to the comparison between two drama-revenge series: GMA Network’s Contessa and also, the recently concluded ABS-CBN Corporation’s Wildflower.
Glaiza stars in Contessa while Maja Salvador top-billed Wildflower. Both of the shows reveal the story of a female lead character who seek revenge.
In the said interview, Glaiza remained unfazed. She clarified that Contessa doesn’t tackle political themes. She continued that her character will have a different take on seeking justice.
“So, I think malayo dun sa tema nang Wildflower. So may element siyang revenge, yes. Kasi this is what the show is all about. Women empowerment, seeking for justice, fighting for what is right.”
Glaiza also revealed that her titular role, Contessa came from the 2002 film Count of Monte Cristo. The film also revealed the story of Edmond Dantès who sought justice after escaping from prison.
Umpisa pa lang, greatest challenge na yung pagkawala ng asawa niya on their wedding day. Tapos na-set up siya.
