After five years, the much-awaited Kapamilya fantaserye “Bagani” is set to conquer the Philippine TV. In an interview with PUSH.com, Kapamilya actor Enrique Gil, who is one of the series’ lead stars, shared more details about his role Lakas.
“Magsisimula yung story bilangslave lang ako sa tribo namin. Dun ako magsisimula hangga’t makita niyo yung journey hanggang maging Bagani si Lakas. Marami pang mangyayari. It’s very good. Ang alamat ni Lakas at Ganda— hindi ko rin masyado alam nun so ngayon alam ko na. Sa grade 1 or grade 2 yan tinuturo sa mga bata so it’s something new na very, very good to teach the children,” he shared.
In the series, Enrique is playing as a skilled warrior. He admitted he had to train harder for his intense fight scenes that were required on most of his scenes.
“2018 has been really, really good to me right now. A big show, big partnerships with Samsung, and I’m just ready for more this year. I also feel good because I’ve been dieting. I’ve been active for Bagani. There’s a lot of action. At saka parang work out na rin yung taping namin eh, puro action scenes, fighting, yung takbuhan. So it’s very, very physical and it’s very exciting. At least something new. Sabi nga nila Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) first time nila makita na I’m very manly, parang uma-action action na. it’s something new for me but I enjoy it. Kahit nakakapagod siya it’s exciting. It’s something good,” he added.
Just like in real life, Enrique said that his role Lakas is family-oriented man. “Ang hugot ni Lakas ay dahil sa kanyang mahal sa buhay, sa pamilya niya, to fight with dignity, ganun siya. Kasi yun ang pinaglalaban niya.
“If you’re a warrior, you have to protect and serve your tribe and not do harm to others. Parang yun yung purpose niya. Bayani siya, or Bagani as they call it. Yung problema ni Lakas sa tribo namin, they use their pagiging warriors to steal and to cause damage and hurt to other people. Ang paniniwala ni Lakas, ang pagiging isang mandirigma ay kailangan may dignidad, ganun siya,” he shared.
At the end of his interview, Enrique said that he feels proud to be part of a major production in Philippine TV which took five years of planning.
“Last year lang kami nagsimula. So matagal na talaga siyang plano. Pero ngayon lang talaga na-execute. Hindi na kami out-of-town, we transferred the sets to Bulacan but we still shoot sa Bataan and Subic, and iba’t-ibang regions kasi yung mgaset ginagawa yun eh. Malalaki yung mga set na ginagawa,” he ended.
