Mark your calendars for the much-anticipated annual Earth Hour where the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines urges Filipinos to unite for this year’s them #Connect2Earth, a call for an urgent need to care for our planet’s biodiversity.
On March 24, the world shall become one for its sake. Earth Hour Manila will hold the event at the iconic Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City, the very first venue that hosted the country’s start in participating to the Earth Hour, ten years ago. Since then, the gathering continues to attract millions of people, whether advocates or not, to conduct a switch-off for 60 minutes in their landmarks, cities, or communities. This has been observed yearly as a commitment to the world’s plight to save its’ mother nature.
This symbolic movement begun in 2007 in Sydney, Australia and has since grown into one of the most powerful and biggest moments observed globally. It’s now adapted in over 7,000 cities and 180 countries.
Earth Hour encourages people to raise awareness among each other and within themselves on the crucial importance of biodiversity as a viable resource link that families, communities, nations, and future generations all depend upon.
Supporting its vision are WWF-Philippines National Ambassadors Iza Calzado, Rovilson Fernandez, Marc Nelson, together with its National Youth Ambassador Janine Gutierrez to help build public engagement.
#Connect2Earth aims to create a strong social media presence to reach out to a wider audience and share the commitment to a “one planet lifestyle.”
