- Noel Escondo’s short film “Alaala” serves his official entry this year
Internationally-acclaimed Filipino director Noel Escondo makes his return to the esteemed annual Cannes Film Festival with his newest masterpiece, a short film entitled “ALAALA.”
The plot revolves around the story of a man who decided to come back to his roots and reminisce his memories with his girlfriend in their province. This movie is a product of their Guerilla Filmathon 24-hour Challenge in Compostella Valley for the CinemaRehiyon 9.
According to Noel, it still comes as a shock to him whenever his works get recognized globally.
“‘Di pa rin ako makapaniwala na kasali kami ulit sa Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner,” he said.
Second time around
Last year, one of his creations, “Nakaw,” was nominated for the said festival. The same film won the GAWAD URIAN 2017 Best Short Film as well.
Surely, his nostalgic “Alaala” will once again find its way to France in May for the prestigious 71st Cannes Film Festival.
