ABS-CBN Corporation’s primetime series, Wildflower‘s year-long run will have its ‘wildest ending’ on February 9, Friday. The said revenge-drama series had Filipinos gripping their own seats.
It chronicles the story of Lily Cruz and her quest for revenge against the Ardientes for killing her parents.
Wildflower stars Maja Salvador, Aiko Melendez, Tirso Cruz III and RK Bagatsing. Its cast also includes Joseph Marco, Sunshine Cruz, Vin Abrenica and Roxanne Barcelo. Yen Santos, Miko Raval, Christian Vasquez and Zsa Zsa Padilla, this completes the cast present in the Wildflower Wildest press conference last January 31, Wednesday.
With Raul (Wendell Ramos), Helena (Zsa Zsa) and Arnaldo (RK) out of the picture, Lily (Maja) would seem to have the upper hand to complete her mission. She wanted to get the Ardientes off their thrones. Lily also wanted to set the people of the Poblacion free from their tight grip. However, Julio (Tirso) and Emilia (Aiko) will not just watch on their high horses and let Lily get away with it. The last living and free Ardientes will make sure she regrets everything she did.
They had publicly put the blame on Lily after Arnaldo committed suicide. The Ardientes humiliate her in public and let the people throw tomatoes at her. They forced her to walk around town with a signage which said she killed the town’s mayor. Beat blue and black, Lily still walks around as Camia (Sunshine) struggles against the guards to get to her daughter. Emilia also lashes Lily’s back with a whip proving once again that nobody can mess with the Ardientes.
However, the people of Poblacion Ardiente discover a mass grave of bodies. They also suspected that the bodies belong to the loved one who went missing. This caused a massive public outrage which could change their paths.
Questions arise as Wildflower comes to an end: How will this discovery change things? Where will Lily find a spark of hope amidst the misery? When will Poblacion Ardiente finally see the light after many years of being in the dark under the Ardiente rule?
From a bride who wore black as she walks down the aisle to a fierce and indestructible lady in gold, Wildflower is more than just a story of revenge. Under the production of ABS-CBN’s business unit which director Ruel Bayani led, Wildflower became a story of a woman’s courage.
It also became the story of Lily’s determination and resilience to finally get the justice for her family and for the people of their own town. Lily will always fight for the right thing without putting the law in her hands.
The showstopping scenes became viral memes on social media. It also became the netizens’ most talked about shows in the Philippines.
The revenge-filled series also received recognition from award-giving bodies in the Philippines such as PMCP Star Awards for TV, LionhearTV Rawr Awards and GEMS Hiyas ng Sining Awards. Asian Television Awards also recognized Tirso as a finalist in the best supporting actor category.
