- “Sin Island” is Star Cinema’s Valentine offering this 2018.
- The erotic thriller film is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
Star Cinema is set to make your Valentine’s Day hotter with it’s latest offering. “Sin Island”, an erotic thriller from director Gino M. Santos, and starring Xian Lim, Coleen Garcia and Nathalie Hart. Set to hit theaters this February 14, 2018.
Here are 10 Reasons Why “Sin Island” Will Make Your Valentine’s Hotter.
10. An unusual Valentine treat from Star Cinema.
As we all know, every Valentine’s day offering of Star Cinema focuses on stories about finding love, from ÜnOfficially Yours (2012), Crazy Beautiful You (2015), Always Be My Maybe (2016), and My Ex and Whys (2017). Star Cinema is set to give moviegoers a different Valentine offering this year with Sin Island. Instead of finding love, its story focuses on fighting for it. It begs the question: what if you finally found love? What are you willing to do to fight for it?
9. The film bravely tackles themes of infidelity and violence.
Although there have been a lot of films that tackles infidelity, all these movies still shy away from going deeper into the adultery topic. These movies also avoid touching violence in their stories. But with “Sin Island”, Star Cinema and director Gino Santos bravely tackles these themes, making the film darker and more serious as compared to previous similarly themed movies that came before.
8. Expect the Unexpected.
Unlike most local mistress-themed movies, Sin Island promises to surprise audiences with its unexpected twists and turns. Director Gino calls it “a crazy love story on steroids”. Nathalie Hart even said that in this movie, “Matira ang matibay.”
7. The Story.
Sin Island tells the story of a picture-perfect married couple David (Xian Lim) and Kanika (Coleen Garcia) whose paradise in each other’s arms will be put to the test as she enters into a dangerous affair shortly after his career tanks into a downward spiral. As David discovers Kanika’s transgressions, he flees to Sinilaban Island where he meets and engages in a carnal affair with a girl named Tasha (Nathalie Hart). Despite their mistakes, the couple decides to rekindle their marriage, but Tasha refuses to let go of David.
According to the film’s screenwriter Jancy Nicolas, the movie tackles the nuances of emotional and physical cheating.
6. The Catchy and Memorable Lines.
Like any other movie about infidelity, we are in for a treat as the film’s trailer already promises some catchy and unforgettable dialogues from the movie. From TJ Trinidad’s double entendre (“I love cheat days. Imagine, kahit ano, pwede mong kainin…”) to Xian Lim’s confrontation with Coleen Garcia (“Kitang-kita ko! Kung magtinginan kayo, ang lagkit-lagkit eh. Ano ka, nagdadalaga?”). But I guess my favorite would be the steamy (literally) conversation between Coleen and Nathalie Hart inside a sauna where Coleen’s character Kanika threatens Nathalie’s Tasha:
“Papatayin kita.”
To which Tasha responds: “Bakit? Nakapatay ka na ba?”
5. This is director Gino M. Santos’ third film produced by Star Cinema.
Director Gino M. Santos has proven himself as one of the rising filmmakers of the country. From his indie films like “The Animals”, “Island Dreams” and “#Y” to his mainstream romance flicks “Ex With Benefits” and “Love Me Tomorrow”. According to him, “Sin Island” is one of his most challenging film to date as it took them 8 months to shoot the whole film.
4. Nathalie Hart is a revelation.
Nathalie Hart was one of the finalists in the fifth season of StarStruck. She was previously known as Princess Snell before she was reintroduced to the public as Nathalie Hart. She previously starred in films like Somebody to Love (2014), Dilim, Shake, Rattle & Roll XV Segment: “Flight 666”, Balatkayo (2015), My Rebound Girl (2016), Siphayo (2016), Tisay and Historiographika Errata (2017).
“Sin Island” is her first film under Star Cinema and according to her, she was really nervous and excited at the same time.
3. Coleen Garcia’s return to the Big Screen.
Coleen Garcia said that after her first film, #Y, she realized that she has a passion for making movies. After her indie film debut, she starred in Star Cinema films like “Ex With Benefits” and “Love Me Tomorrow”, both of which is under the helm of #Y director Gino M. Santos, her frequent collaborator.
2. Xian Lim sheds off his Good Boy Persona.
Xian Lim takes a bold move with the movie Sin Island. According to him, “It’s a really big jump.” It was a gamble for him as he said that the role of David, a husband who ended up cheating on his wife after she betrayed him with another man, is significantly more mature than the wholesome roles he has tackled in the past.
1. Sin Island is Star Cinema’s first Mistress-themed movie in a while.
It’s been a while since Star Cinema has produced a mistress-themed movie like “Sin Island”. And this is one of the biggest reasons why we are so excited to see this movie, since Star Cinema has produced some of the best mistress-themed movies in recent memory, from No Other Woman (2011), The Mistress (2012), The Love Affair (2015) and Etiquette for Mistresses (2015), making “Sin Island” a must-watch this Valentine’s Day.
“Sin Island” is now showing in cinemas nationwide.
