- Internet sensation Ethel Booba answered bashers who expressed negative feedback to the upcoming Kapamilya fantaseries “Bagani.”
- The 41-year old comedienne explained that the characters in the said series are all fictional and not from pre-colonial era.
Amid the heated argument of netizens about the casting of the upcoming Kapamilya fantaserye “Bagani,” internet sensation Ethel Booba defended the said series from bashers.
The 41-year old comedienne said responds hilariously but with substance to netizens’ feedback.
“Sa sinigang lang talaga kayo nagfocus sa lahat ng qualities na sinabi ni Liza Soberano about sa pagiging Pinoy nya. Sabagay, yang galing natin sa panlalait very Pinoy tayo dyan.,” Ethel said on the controversial tweet of Liza Soberano on how she described herself being a Filipino.
A netizen replied to Ethel saying that it is not about the “sinigang” statement of Liza that made them furious but it is the casting of the lead stars. The #CHAROTISM author answered by comparing it to the epic-serye of Marian Rivera “Amaya.”
“What do you mean na representation ng pre-colonial Filipinos? Casting ba? Remember, Marian Rivera gumanap na Amaya which is historical drama based on pre-colonial Visayas pero tahimik lang kayo noon,” Ethel answered.
Ethel clarified that the Liza Soberano-Enrique Gil series is a fictional story and not under the pre-colonial era of the Philippines.
“Diba fictional world ang sa Bagani and not pre-colonial Philippines. Kung kulay ang pinapansin ng nakararami di lang kayumanggi ang nabubuhay na Pinoy noon may fair skin din,” she stated.
According to Ethel, there is nothing wrong to use historical names on a fictional show.
“Encantadia ay fictional world pero gumamit din sila ng name na Amihan. Diba myth or fictional lang “ata” si Malakas at Maganda,” she explained.
Ethel also cleared that she has nothing against the selection of Marian as Amaya however she asked netizens if a “binukot” is a pure native Filipina.
Marian played the role of a “binukot” or a princess of a certain community headed by a Datu. History says that a “binukot” is not allowed to go outside their shelter.
“Teh wala po akong sinabing mali ang pagkakapili kay Marian Rivera sa Amaya. Since point ng “iba” si Liza may foreign blood nabanggit ko na half blood din si Marian. Correct me na lang di din kasi ako sure, Pure Pinoy ba ang Binukot or may dugong banyaga din? Salamat,” she stated.
Just like “Game Of Thrones,” Ethel reiterated “Bagani” is a fictional story that has their own ethnicity and race.
“Bagani is same with Game of Thrones na fictional world. Sa GoT their people are not called British, ancient Egypt etc., they have their own ethnicity or race. Ganon din sa Bagani they are not Filipinos meron silang ibang tribe so again di sya about pre-colonial Ph,” she emphasized.
At her last tweet, Ethel jokingly urged everyone who has concerns about the series should directly talk to ABS-CBN.
“Kung may mga concern pa po kayo about Bagani magtweet na po kayo direct sa ABS-CBN. Nasa next topic na kasi ako saka nagluluto ako ng sinigang kaya di ako makapagtweet masyado,” she ended.
