- Award-winning director Joey Reyes will remake the iconic “Pare Ko” movie.
- Elmo Magalona, Jerome Ponce, Kiko Estrada and Donny Pangilinan are the lead stars of the said movie.
In an interview of Philstar.com with award-winning director Joey Reyes, he shared some detail in the upcoming movie, “Walwal.” The said film is the remake of the 1994 iconic barkada movie, “Pare Ko” which starred Mark Anthony Fernandez, Jao Mapa, Jomari Yllana, Victor Neri, Gio Alvarez and Claudine Barretto.
“It’s a growing up movie about four friends since high school and now they’re on the second year college and about the dilemma they face,” he shared during the look test of the four male lead.
Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan’s son Donny Pangilinan is one of the lead stars of the film and this will be his first acting project.
“I wanted to work with Donny at masaya ako na nabigyan ako opportunity on his very first movie.
Ang dream niya, the next Brilliante Mendoza.
Kapuso actor Kiko Pangilinan will play the role of the “playboy” of the barkada.
I’ve worked with Kiko before. And then, fuck boy siya. Kahit ano, basta nakapalda, papatusin niya! Then he gets a girl pregnant from one night stand,” Direk Joey shared.
Meanwhile, Elmo Magalona is also included in the movie, however, Direk Joey clarified that he will be having no love team for his role.
Wala siyang love interest,” Direk Joey clarified.
Lastly, Jerome Ponce will be having the most dramatic role as the poorest of their barkada.
“Si Jerome, siya ‘yung drama. Siya ng pinakamahirap sa magkakabarkada. Nanay niya, laos na bold star,” the multi-awarded director said.
According to Direk Joey, he always wanted to do a youth movie that will tackle the deeper aspect of their lives aside from romantic love, “This is my updated version of Pare Ko. I’ve been wanting to do another Pare Ko but this time, using contemporary kids.
