Ballesteros in a separate interview after the usual Q and A at the press launch on Friday, February 9 at Le Rêve Pool Party Venue and Events Place; admitted that his role in the film is quite challenging since the location is quite remote and the role he is playing requires that he’d act like a straight guy.
He was also quick to defend a comment that if he’s not bothered that he’ll be typecast in gay roles and not want to do straight, normal guy, “Normal din naman ang bakla ah?
“Okay lang. Kung doon naman ako magaling. Kung doon naman ako effective. Kung magpakalalaki ako tapos di naman ako effective?”
He is open to doing male-to-male love stories; and then dropped the name of Piolo Pascual as prospective actor he’d like to work with. He doesn’t mind including the recent singer-actor Mark Bautista, “Isama na natin si Mark eme…”
Another question was fielded if he’s ready to do love scenes with the aforementioned actors as he replied without any hesitation, “Sila ba ready?”
Paolo also made mention that among the Hollywood actors who portrayed gay roles, he has high regard toward the English actor-writer Rupert Everett who appeared in a 1997 film–‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’.
In ‘Amnesia Love’, Ballesteros is paired with Viva’s versatile actress—Yam Concepcion as Doray. The latter acts the daughter of a compassionate couple who took in his character. Romance starts to brew between the characters of Ballesteros and Concepcion. But somewhere in between, Paolo will eventually realize who he really is as an individual especially when he is exposed to attractive men.
