- “Bagani” is ABS-CBN’s biggest television offering this 2018.
- The fantasy series stars the phenomenal LizQuen loveteam, among other big names.
ABS-CBN has officially revealed it’s biggest television series so far and it looks very promising. ABS-CBN and Star Creatives has finally unveiled their latest fantasy adventure series entitled Bagani, starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano with Matteo Guidicelli, Sofia Andres and Makisig Morales. And everyone just can’t stop talking about it.
The upcoming fantasy adventure series is set to premiere on ABS-CBN’s Primetime Bida evening block and worldwide on The Filipino Channel this 2018, replacing La Luna Sangre.
Here are 10 Reasons Why We Are Excited for ABS-CBN’s Bagani.
10. The most hyped television series from ABS-CBN this year.
Upon its announcement last year, the series has already caught some controversy after it was tagged as a copycat of GMA’s fantasy show Encantadia. The said show’s writer, Suzette Doctolero even claimed that the ABS-CBN series was nothing more than a cheap imitation and even commented, “Pang circus ang costume.”
But after the series’ trailer has officially debuted, it’s obvious that the ABS-CBN series is far from what it’s bashers were claiming as it revolves around warriors and humanity fighting the Gods (Encantadia, on the other hand, is about the Diwatas, a race of supernatural being living in a dimension beyond the human world).
9. The unusual storyline.
In the series’ official trailer, we are introduced to Enrique Gil as Lakas, the son of an exiled clan leader who spent years training to become a warrior to protect his loved ones. But unfortunately, he finds himself forced to join a group of war-hungry bandits in order to save his mother.
This led to him to meet Maganda (Liza Soberano), a skilled archer from the tribe of farmers, who asks for his help in training her tribe’s warriors. Conflict arises when the war-hungry bandits soon attacked Maganda’s tribe, and Lakas is torn between his love for Maganda and his duties to the bandits.
Obviously, it’s nothing like Encantadia, right?
8. The series’ mythology.
Later in the trailer, we see the Gods (played by Diether Ocampo and Ryan Eigenmann) arguing whether they should still give humanity a chance to redeem itself after it has succumbed to greed and war. We then see different monsters starting to attack Earth as punishment from the Gods. Lakas (Enrique Gil) is then forced to assemble a team to battle the creatures the gods sent.
This mythology is actually more akin to Greek mythology, more specifically the Hollywood blockbuster Clash of the Titans. (Again, not Encantadia).
7. The All-Star Cast.
Aside from Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, the series also stars Matteo Guidicelli (Rakam), Sofia Andres (Dana) and Makisig Morales (Vex).
It also features Diether Ocampo, Ryan Eigenmann, Christian Vasquez, Precious Lara Quigaman, Ana Abad Santos, Robert Seña, Lito Pimentel, Dimples Romana, Rayver Cruz, Maricar Reyes, Enzo Pineda and Rufa Mae Quinto in supporting roles, with Special participation from Albert Martinez, Bela Padilla and Ian Veneracion.
6. The Big Production.
Just by looking at its trailer, one can already feel the gigantic scope of this series. From its gorgeous pre-Spanish era Philippine setting and incredibly detailed costumes, not to mention its large number of casts and extras, it is evident that ABS-CBN has spent a humongous budget in pulling off this big production.
5. Makisig Morales’ returns to television.
Makisig Morales’ last television show was the 2014 fantaserye Mirabella. He also entered musical theater scene in the play Teen Saint Pedro The Musical.
Bagani marks his return to television as he plays Vex, one of the five warriors that will fight the monsters sent by the Gods to Earth.
4. Diether Ocampo’s Big Comeback.
Aside from Makisig, Bagani also marks the big comeback of Diether Ocampo.
His last ABS-CBN project was the Maalaala Mo Kaya episode entitled “Bukid” back in 2014. He was later seen in the TV5 drama Bakit Manipis ang Ulap? in 2016.
After that, he was seen in several GMA shows.
A lot of people have since speculated what happened to one of Star Magic’s biggest stars since then. This year marks his big comeback to Primetime television and to his mother station, ABS-CBN.
3. LizQuen’s epic return to Primetime.
Of course, everyone is looking forward to the big return to Primetime of one of this generation’s biggest and most successful love teams, LizQuen. After their phenomenal teleserye, Dolce Amore and the mega-blockbuster hit My Ex and Whys, we are now going to witness Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil in a whole new world of Gods and Warriors.
This is definitely going to be epic.
2. Liza Soberano’s first action-packed role.
Everyone’s eyes are on Liza Soberano as she portrays her first action-packed role as the archer Maganda in Bagani. Obviously, we are all anticipating her fight scenes in this series as we look forward to her upcoming superhero movie Darna.
1. This is ABS-CBN’s biggest teleserye this year.
Indeed, Bagani is ABS-CBN’s biggest television event of the year. From its star-studded powerhouse cast, it’s epic production value and unique story, this is one of the year’s must-watch television series in Philippine television.
