- Robin Padilla criticizes Korean contestant in Pilipinas Got Talent.
- Kim Jiwan, the said contestant, faced his PGT journey more awkward than usual.
- Netizens also reacted to the rude encounter.
Kim Jiwan, a 20-year-old Korean, grew up in Muntinlupa. He started his Pilipinas Got Talent journey with a sweet gesture to his longtime Filipino girlfriend.
However, Robin Padilla criticized him for not learning Filipino or Tagalog despite living in the Philippines for a long time.
Robin told Kim that he should speak Tagalog first before he uses the actor-judge for his close-up talent trick.
“Firstly, mag-Tagalog ka muna bago mo ako kausapin.”
Robin also continued to say that the show only focused on looking for talented Filipinos, only Filipinos.
PGT judge and award-winning actress, Angel Locsin, patiently taught Kim his instructions in Tagalog. Many netizens called Robin ‘rude’ and ‘racist’ for what he did.
Netizens reacted to Robin’s action towards the Korean contestant. A netizen also pointed out that Kim spoke in English, the universal language.
“Force someone to speak in Tagalog? Where in the first place, it is not easy to learn English. As long as they used Universal language, we can understand each other. Just sayin’ #PGTisLife”
A netizen, then, noted that Robin shouldn’t have shamed Kim like that.
“We know na it’s Pilipinas Got Talent. But WTH, you shouldn’t have accepted Kim Jiwan for auditions if you will shame him like that. #PGTisLife”
Then, many netizens also applauded Angel’s kindness for the consideration.
“I can’t bear watching Robin being rude to someone who loves Phillipines and its people. A big clap for Angel for being considerate. #PGTisLife”
