Pilipinas Got Talent’s latest season scored a big comeback hitting all-time high ratings.
Pinoy televiewers proved their penchant for talent shows as it sent Pilipinas Got Talent Season 6 on top of the ratings board.
Last January 6, 2018, Philippine TV’s premiere talent showcase program made a comeback and was welcomed warmly by the televiewers.
PGT Season 6 was again top-billed by its formidable judges Robin Padilla, Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin and Freddie M. Garcia and hosts Billy Crawford and Toni Gonzaga.
Its pilot episode scored a massive win against its competitor “Pepito Manaloto” and “Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko”.
PGT Season 6 on Saturday, January 6 posted a rating of 11.7%, 0.6% higher than “Pepito Manaloto” based on AGB Nielsen NUTAM People ratings. A more convincing win meanwhile was reported by Kantar Media 38.6% vs 18.7%.
While PGT6 already got a compelling win on its pilot’s first day, the second episode on Sunday, January 7 generated a more powerful impact.
For AGB Nielsen, PGT6 scored 13.5% overpowering “Daig Kayo Ng Lola Ko”‘s 7.6% or a difference of 5.9%. Kantar Media, on the other hand, reported a big margin also 40.8% vs 14.5%.
All-time high ratings
Not only did PGT’s comeback win against its competitor but this latest season has also beaten all previous seasons in terms of the pilot ratings.
PGT Season 6 posted its all-time high ratings of 40.8% as reported by Kantar Media. This is the highest ratings PGT’s pilot ever reach breaking its Season 1’s pilot of 38.7%.
Season 6’s number is 37.5% higher than its predecessor which had a pilot of 25.5%. PGT’s lowest pilot was recorded during Season 3’s premiere of 23.5%.
Meanwhile, AGB Nielsen’s number has reported a decline from Season 5 to 6 but this is because Season 5 used Mega Manila data set while Season 6 used NUTAM People ratings. That’s is why I opted a comparison of the AGB number, I’ll just leave their pilot numbers as a reference.
Toni’s charm
Aside from breaking its previous ratings number, PGT 6 also offers another new in the show; new co-host in the person of multimedia star Toni Gonzaga.
This is the first time in Pilipinas Got Talent history that the show wasn’t hosted by the tandem of Luis Manzano and Billy Crawford. From Season 1 to Season 5, Luis and Billy managed to make the show as lively and as entertaining as possible. But with the recent inclusion of Toni in the show, expect that her charm will bring additional fun and entertainment. And it is already evident with the high ratings that it gets, a good welcome for her and a great “lucky” charm for the show in return.
With Toni’s proven expertise and audience appeal in hosting different reality and talent competitions, it is not far-fetched to connect the new heights that the show reached with her presence.
