Presidential Communications Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson is set to return her award given by the UST Alumni Association Inc.
After the online pressure from netizens and the Thomasian community, Mocha Uson decided to return her Thomasian Award for Government Service.
In her Facebook post, Uson said she has already talked in private with USTAAI President about her decision to return her award following online backlash and outrage.
“Lingid sa kaalaman ng lahat bago pa po lumabas ang statement nila ay sinabi ko na po sa President ng UST Alumni Association Inc. na si Sir Henry Tenedero na akin na pong isasauli ang award.” Mocha wrote.
She also praised the UST AAI because according to her despite the online bashing that the group is getting their stand firm with the decision not to rescind the award given to her.
“Ako po ay humahanga sa UST Alumni Association Inc. dahil sa kabila ng pambu-bully ng ilang Thomasians sa kanila sila ay nanindigan.” she added.
UST Alumni Association Inc, today has issued a statement asking apology to the Thomasian Community for the controversy it created when they conferred the TAGS to Mocha Uson. However, they stand firm that they will not rescind what has been already given.
Meanwhile, Mocha’s decision posted on her Facebook page further verified by the UST Publication The Varsitarian.
In their official Twitter account, The Varsitarian posted a message from Uson stating her intent to return the controversial award.
Mocha said she will have her assistant return the award because she cannot do it herself as she needs to attend an official function.

“Ako po ay humahanga sa UST Alumni Association Inc. dahil sa kabila ng pambu-bully ng ilang Thomasians sa kanila sila ay nanindigan. Lingid sa kaalaman ng lahat bago pa po lumabas ang statement nila ay sinabi ko na po sa President ng UST Alumni Association Inc. na si Sir Henry Tenedero na akin na pong isasauli ang award. Ngunit sinabi niya sa akin na wala sa isip nila na ito’y bawiin. Hindi ko lamang ito isinapubliko dahil sobrang nao-OA na ako sa ilang Thomasians sa pagpapalaki ng issue na ito. Marami pa pong mas mahahalagang bagay ang dapat pinag-uusapan kesa dito. TAMA NA ANG DRAMA at pag-usapan na natin ang mahahalagang bagay tulad ng pagtulong sa mga naturukan ng DENGVAXIA at panagutin ang mga may sala dito. Hindi na biro ito. Dapat ay may gawin ng hakbang ang DOH para mas makatulong sa ating mga kababayan. Pagtuunan din natin ang mga kababayan natin na naapektuhan sa pag-aalburuto ng bulkang Mayon. Let’s all MOVE ON at tumulong tayo sa ating mga kababayan.”
