- Daytime Drama Queen Julia Montes is back with the new series, “Asintado”.
- The series is set to debut this January 2018.
It’s almost a year since Julia Montes’ highly successful afternoon teleserye “Doble Kara” has ended. The drama series, which featured Julia in dual roles playing twin sisters Kara Dela Rosa and Sara Suarez, premiered in August 24, 2015 as part of ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold afternoon block to positive reception among critics and fans.
This paved way for the series’ extended run, spanning 6 seasons and single-handedly beating out GMA Network’s “The Half Sisters”, “Wish I May”, “Magkaibang Mundo” and “Oh, My Mama!”
Her dual roles in the series won her a second Gawad Tanglaw Award in the Best Actress category and another PMPC Star Award nomination for Best Drama Actress.
This year, Daytime Drama Queen Julia Montes returns with ABS-CBN’s highly anticipated revenger drama series, “Asintado”.
The story of “Asintado”
She plays Juliana “Ana” Dimasalang, a girl separated from her sister back when she was a child after tragedy struck their family and killed their parents. Years later, she meets Gael Ojeda (played by Paulo Avelino) and falls for him. But Gael’s ex-girlfriend, Samantha Del Mundo (Shaina Magdayao) soon enters the scene as she tries to get his affections back. In order to erase the only person standing in her way, Samantha plotted a murder on Juliana not knowing she is her long-lost sister.
Her plot to kill Juliana did not go as planned; Juliana survived the incident and through the help of a mysterious man (newest Kapamilya leading man Aljur Abrenica), she comes back to seek vengeance against her blood sister.
Originally titled Victims of Love, this latest drama series also stars Lorna Tolentino, Agot Isidro, Nonie Buencamino and Cherry Pie Picache, the series is directed by Onat Diaz and Lino Cayetano. It is set to premiere on ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold afternoon block and worldwide on The Filipino Channel on January 15, 2018, replacing “Pusong Ligaw”.
Aside from her latest teleserye, she is also set to do two movies this year, one of which is entitled “Doctors to the Barrio”, under the helm of internationally-award winning director Brillante Mendoza.
