- ABS-CBN celebrates 20th Year of 90s film “Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang” via “Sunday’s Best”
- Don’t forget to watch “Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang?” this Sunday (Jan 14) in “Sunday’s Best” on ABS-CBN or ABS-CBN HD (SkyCable ch 167).
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Ned and Bujoy’s love story as “Sunday’s Best” airs the digitally restored and remastered “Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang?” this Sunday (Jan 14).
Twenty years ago, Star Cinema brought to the big screen this iconic film, topbilled by Jolina Magdangal and Marvin Agustin, that defined a generation. It also gave birth to the unforgettable line, “Oh yes kaibigan mo ako, kaibigan mo lang ako.”
The movie, directed by Jerry Sineneng, tells the story of Bujoy (Jolina) and Ned (Marvin), who both try to hide and deny that they are romantically in love with each other so as to keep and protect their friendship.
Last year, ABS-CBN’s Film Restoration Group mounted a red carpet premiere of the digitally restored and remastered “Labs Kita…Okey Ka Lang?” at the UP Town Center attended by no less that Jolina and Marvin.
In the said premiere, Marvin expressed his gratitude to ABS-CBN for restoring one of his films with Jolina Magdangal.
“We are happy and thankful for ABS-CBN for doing this. Because of this, more people can watch not just a good film but a high quality one,” said Marvin in the premiere night.
Jolina also said thanked the people behind the Film Restoration Group and wished that the younger generations appreciate their craft.
“When I learned about ABS-CBN restoring films, I wished that one of the films they restore is “Labs Kita..” That was why, I was so pleased when I learned that they restored it. For the people who will be watching it for the first time, I hope that they will also fall in love in the story and appreciate how we bring ‘kilig’ to our audience back in the 90s,” shared Jolina.
Since 2011, ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project has been restoring classic films to help preserve Philippine cinematic history. Together with Central Digital Lab, it has become the first restoration effort to be done within the country.
To date, ABS-CBN Film Restoration Project has already restored over 120 films, some of which were already screened internationally via film fests, screened locally via red carpet premieres, aired on free-to-air and cable television, viewed via pay-per-view and video-on-demand, distributed on DVD, and downloadable even on iTunes.
