LionhearTV listed down the Top 10 highest grossing Filipino films of all time as of 2017. The list does not include the participating movies of the on-going MMFF 2017.
10. Sisterakas, 2012 (P393 Million est., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
With the combined star powers of Vice Ganda, Ai Ai delas Alas and Kris Aquino, “Sisterakas” was named as the highest grossing film of 2012. Directed by late director Wenn Deramas, the story revolves around the lives of Bernardo (Vice Ganda)and his half-sister Bernadette (Aiai de las Alas) and their unsolved issue in the past. Bernardo plans to make Bernadette’s life hell until a rival Roselle (Kris Aquino) tries to lure Bernadette away and joined forces to defeat Bernardo’s company.
9. My Ex and Whys, 2017 (P400 Million est., Star Cinema)
“My Ex and Whys” serves as the fourth movie of Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil as love team since 2013. The Cathy Garcia-Molina film tackled second chances and trust issues between the characters of Cali and Gio.
8. My Little Bossings, 2013 (P401 Million est, OctoArts Films, M-Zet Productions, APT Entertainment)
2013 is the year of the child star, Ryzza Mae Dizon after winning “Eat Bulaga!” Little Miss Philippines. The film featured Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino and James “Bimby” Yap as the lead stars.
7. It Takes A Man and A Woman, 2013 (P403 Million est., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
As the third and last installment of the trilogy “A Very Special Love,” Cathy Garcia-Molina made another box-office hit on “It Takes a Man and a Woman.” Lead stars John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo made the moviegoers cry and laugh with their relatable scenes and dialogues.
6. Starting Over Again, 2014 (P410 Million est., Star Cinema)
“Starting Over Again,” directed by award-winning director Olivia M. Lamasan, is the first film of Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga as love team after the Sprite commercial years ago. The film shocked the viewers with its twist and unexpected ending on the love story of Marco and Ginny.
5. Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, 2013 (P436 Million., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
It’s Vice Ganda times 4!
“Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” is another film by late director Wenn V. Deramas. The movie is about the quadruplets, Girlie, Peter, Mark and Panying all played by Vice Ganda.
4. The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin, 2014 (P455 Million est., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
The sequel of “The Unkabogable: Praybeyt Benjamin” made into the list of highest grossing films of all time. Vice Ganda starred alongside Richard Yap, Tom Rodriguez, Alex Gonzaga and James “Bimby” Yap Jr.
3. Beauty and the Bestie, 2015 (P526 Million est., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
It’s a mix of action and comedy!
Vice Ganda and Coco Martin joined forces in the movie “Beauty and the Bestie” as an entry to MMFF 2015. This is the highest grossing film in that year defeating Vic Sotto’s “My Bebe Love.”
2. A Second Chance, 2015 (P556 Million est., Star Cinema)
After eight years, the hit movie of Bea Alonzo and John Lloyd Cruz “One More Chance” conquer the Philippine cinema once again with its sequel “A Second Chance.” The movie tells about the marriage life of Basha and Popoy and the challenges of their matrimony.
1. The Super Parental Guardians, 2016 (598 Million est., Star Cinema and Viva Films)
Though, it failed to join the list of MMFF official entries, “Super Parental Guardians” made history as the highest grossing Filipino films of all time. This gave the title to Vice Ganda as the 6th -time Phenomenal box-office star of Philippine cinema.
