MMFF 2017 reaches the highest gross for the first and second day of showing.
Metro Manila Film Festival 2017 Facebook Page announced that this year’s festival sets new record for the fist and second day gross sales. The new record surpassed the MMFF 2015 recorded box-office sales on its first two days of showing.
“This year’s Metro Manila Film Festival broke box-office records as it surpassed the 2015 first and second day gross sales,” MMFF FB page wrote.
According to the committee, this years also tripled the moviegoers last year who supported the Filipino movies this Christmas.
“It also tripled the foot traffic to the theaters from last year,” the caption continued.
“The big achievement is bringing back our kababayans to the theaters. It took quite some time before we saw this kind of enthusiasm once again from the Filipino viewers,” said MMFF Execom Chair Tim Orbos.
“From the Parade Of Stars in Muntinlupa to the post Holiday theater tours, people have flocked to the theaters once more to support the all-Filipino film line up that went through grueling screening from an esteemed Selection Committee headed by no less than National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera,” they noted.
MMFF 2017 also believed that the festival’s revenue is already back on track and assured that they will continue showcase quality productions in the upcoming years.
“Now that we have the audience and the revenues back on track, we are committed to continue making quality productions that would satisfy and enrich our general film audiences,” the caption ended.
On the other hand, MMFF Execom decided not to publicize partial box office results of the festival to avoid ‘bandwagon effect.
