- Dawn Zulueta was disappointed over network wards and rivalry between TV stations.
- She also noted some bashers will still put separation lines between stars from ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
- She pointed out that combining stars from both networks will continue to be an advantage for films.
Dawn Zulueta initially felt excited working with actors from both ABS-CBN Corporation and GMA Network. However, she expressed disappointment about the division of celebrities because of their network contracts.
PEP.ph asked Dawn about her thoughts on working with a combination of Kapuso and Kapamilya stars. On the blog conference of Meant To Beh last December 7, Thursday.
Dawn plays Vic Sotto’s wife in the official entry of 2017’s Metro Manila Film Festival.
“Ako, I think it’s exciting when actors are able to work together without boundaries because we are only divided by the boundaries set by our contracts and I think that’s sad. It did not use to be that way. I still came from an era wherein it was free for all, we could go anywhere and could tandem with everybody. Now, parang you have limitations or nagkakahiyaan, may ganun na ngayon, e.”
Then, she continued that she still believes that aside from network contracts, some bashers will still put separation lines between stars from ABS-CBN and GMA Network.
“You look at social media and you see, there are a lot of bashers, yun ang palaging tema nila, kasi you come from there, they come from here. It’s such a big deal for a lot of people when it really shouldn’t be, because I think we come from one industry. I remember once upon a time when this was industry was just one big family. And there was no such thing as you come from that clan and we come from this clan.”
Dawn pointed out that combining stars from both networks will continue to be an advantage for films.
“So I really think that one of the things we want to say in inviting everyone to watch the movie is please watch all the movies. I hope you just watch ours first!”
Then, she told everyone at the said blog conference:
“But you know, think about it this way, bihira po na magkasama sama ang mga artista na galing sa iba’t ibang network and this project, we have everybody. It didn’t matter what network you came from. We just all wanted to work together and ibalik natin yung ganyang spirit, icelebrate natin, i-celebrate natin na nagkakasama sama tayong lahat na walang klaseng boundaries na sinasabi.”
Meant To Beh also features Kapamilya stars like Sue Ramirez and Daniel Matsunaga plus Kapuso stars such as Andrea Torres and Ruru Madrid. Competing with seven other films in the MMFF 2017, Meant To Beh will open on December 25.
