He held up a 20-Peso bill and made a joke which apparently, offended some people.

Atty. Joji Alonso cleared up and explained why Derek made the said joke.
Controversy arose when Derek Ramsay went up the stage to receive his Male Star of the Night Award in the Gabi ng Parangal of 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival. Derek recently went on a vacation with his son, Austin, and longtime girlfriend, Joanne Villablanca. Derek talked to Atty. Joji Alonso, producer of the MMFF entry, “All of You.”
Presenters of the said special prize mistakenly read the prompter. Instead of announcing that winners will receive Php 20, 000, they read Php 20. 00. So, when Derek came up the stage with the said amount in his hand then made a joke, some people thought that it felt offensive for the presenters on the stage.
However, Derek couldn’t clear his own actions so Atty. Joji took it upon herself to do so. In a recent Philippine Star Pang-Masa post, Jun Nardo shared that Atty. Joji cleared out the issue through a text message. She shared that they were joking around when they heard his name.
“When his name was called, he didn’t even know what he won. Puro kami biruan sa side namin. Nagulat na lang daw cya tinawag name nya. He was not aware what the joke was all about.”
Then, Atty. Joji added:
“When he reached the foot of the stairs, Arnel Ignacio and Mr. Ferrer who were seated together, gave him the 20peso bill and told him to say thank u and poke fun at the 20-peso prize.”
Then, she continued:
“He simply obliged. But not with the least intention to offend anyone kc hindi nga cya aware about the buckle. Kaya when he returned to his seat, he asked us pa what did I just win? Then we teased him that he treats us all of us with his cash prize.”
Atty. Joji, futhermore, concluded:
“Here’s a trivia about Derek. He does not carry cash with him kaya impossible that the 20 pesos came from him. Hope this clarifies things.”
