  • MMFF 2017 movie producers agreed not to disclose the box-office results of their movies.
  • MMFF Execom and theater owners also concurred with the move producers’ decision.
  • A 200,000-peso fine and banning from the annual festival would be the penalty for those who violate the agreement.

In a report written on Abante Tonite, MMFF Execom, movie producers and theater owners agreed not to disclose the partial box-office results of participating movies. The 200, 000-peso and banning from the annual festival are two penalties that violators will be facing.

“The MMFF Execom, along with the producers of the festival entries plus the theater representatives have agreed not to release any actual figures and rankings so as not to create a bandwagon effect on the viewers,” MMFF Execom official statement read.

The festival committee encouraged everyone to support the eight participating films in this year’s movie fest.

“We are very happy to say that a large part of the Filipino audiences have gone back to the theaters again this Christmas and we have exceeded even the record on the 1st day box-office gross of MMFF 2015.

“We are looking forward to more and more people watching all the MMFF entries until January 7. MMFF-Magkaisang Mapaunlad ang Filipino Films!!” Meanwhile, according to festival committee, this year’s first and second box-office sales already surpassed the MMFF 2015 record.
