Nyoy Volante gives life to the story of one of the most outstanding teachers in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, who selflessly devoted himself and his music to helping an impoverished indigenous community, this Saturday (Nov 11) in “MMK.”
As a child, Joel always loved music and was influenced by his musically inclined father. His passion for music continued until college, until his dreams of becoming a musician got temporarily halted when he focused on pursuing his studies to become a teacher.
When Joel finally became one, he used everything he learned in school to teach indigenous kids, despite the lack of proper supplies and facilities to support their learning.
How did he turn things around for these kids using only his passion for music? How did he touch and change their lives?
