After Davao Mayor Sara Duterte posted her thoughts about the fate of Mariel de Leon at the Miss International 2017 beauty pageant, the 24-year old beauty queen shared cryptic tweets that were allegedly directed to the ‘presidential daughter.’ Are these two empowered women waging a war on social media?
On Mayor Sara’s post, she admitted ‘schadenfreude’ on Mariel de Leon fate in Miss International 2017.

“Meron ako personal experience sa kanya, but I’m too tired to make kwento. I believe pageant judges see through the physical beauty and examine the heart. Para bang Ms. Venezuela sa Ms. Universe 2016. Parang ganyan. This is a schadenfreude moment for me. Sa binisaya pa, ang gabà di gyud magsabà,” she wrote.
On the other hand, Mariel tweeted:
“If another person’s ‘misfortune’ pleases you, it just shows how insecure and unhappy you are with your life. It’s okay, maybe one day you’ll be truly happy? I’m sending you good vibes and prayers,” she wrote.
On her other tweet, she seems to answer the claims of Mayor Sara having bad experience with her.
“Same building, same event, plus group pics. But no personal experience or encounter. It’s okay, God knows what (didn’t) happen. I’ll pray for you and I’ll leave it all to Him,” she tweeted.
It can be recalled that Mariel was also involved in social media war with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) assistant secretary Mocha Uson.
