- Rachel Peters didn’t reach until the Top 5 finalists of Miss Universe.
- Her story package may be a factor to her loss.
- South Africa’s Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has a more compelling story package.
South Africa’s bet Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is the Miss Universe 2017. Miss Universe coronation night was at the Axis Theater at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. It was last Sunday, November 26 (Monday, November 27 Manila time). Unfortunately, Rachel Peters didn’t reach the Top 5 finalists in Miss Universe. GMA News Stringer Peterson Gonzaga said that Rachel’s “story package” may have been a factor in her loss.
According to the report from Gonzaga, many had cheered for our candidate. However, either her story package or personality wasn’t that strong. Amid lacking something, she is an early crowd favorite and has a good heart.
“Maraming nag-scream and shout. They were like surprised, even dito sa media room, they were surprised. Lahat dito, we’re trying to figure out what happened. Some it’s her story package or maybe her personality wasn’t that strong, although she has a good heart.”
Although, Demi-Leigh was one of the smallest candidates; she made a huge impact on the audience and judges. It may also be because of her background story of pulling through a carjacking incident was her strongest edge for winning the pageant.
“I think baka kasi, even though she’s maliit, her background story, she was carjacked and she fought back, baka ‘yung story niya is very strong. That’s what some of the judges are looking at — the personality, the story, the background of their life, baka ‘yun; that might hindered the Philippines”
During the Question and Answer, she was asked, “What quality in yourself are you most proud of and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?”
Then, her powerful answer was:
“As Miss Universe, you have to be confident in who you are as an individual. A Miss Universe is a woman who has overcome many fears and by that, she is able to help other women overcome their fears. She is a woman that nothing is ever too much to ask for. And I think that is exactly who I am.”
