PCOO Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux Mocha Uson is set to run for Senator in the upcoming 2019 midterm elections.
Mocha Uson was added to the initial list of Senatorial candidates by the ruling party PDP-Laban.
The announcement was made by PDP-Laban Secretary-General and House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez during the mass oath-taking of new PDP-Laban members in Cebu.
Uson is a known staunch supporter and defender of President Duterte. Prior to her appointment as the PCOO Assistant Secretary for Social Media, Uson was first appointed as one of the board members of the Movies and Television Regulatory and Classification Board (MTRCB).
She was also a member of the girl group Mocha Girls prior to joining the government.
Meanwhile, Mocha has yet to issue a denial or confirmation, but in a report by CNN Philippines, it said Mocha Uson was surprised by the Speaker’s announcement.
Aside from Uson, Alvarez also revealed other personalities who will be part of PDP-Laban’s Senatorial line-up in 2019. Included in the list are Bataan Rep. Geraldine Roman, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, Albie Benitez, former MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino and Davao Rep. Karlo Nograles.
