- Miss International Philippines Mariel de Leon shared a tweet about winning and losing.
- She created a Twitter thread about empowering women.
- Although, netizens liked the thought of her tweet, they didn’t like her seemingly pretentious attitude.
Mariel de Leon recently shared her thoughts about winning and losing on Twitter last November 27, Monday. The tweet consisted of a photo of the quote, “A strong woman looks a challenge dead in the eye and gives it a wink.”
Then, she captioned it with:
“ITS NOT WIN OR LOSE, ITS WIN OR LEARN. You never lose anything if you’ve gained wisdom, new experiences, and more friends. You only lose if you give up!”
Then, she also created a Twitter thread about “Empowered women, empower women.”
“To those “pageant fans” that think I’m being “shady”. A THREAD”
She began the thread with her love and support towards Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters.
“Of course I love & support Rachel. She’s my friend. But that doesn’t mean we’re supposed to put down other countries or talk about the other girls negatively.”
Then, she shared how Rachel worked hard for representing our country.
“Rachel has worked so hard to get to where she is now. She represented the Philippines so beautifully. I am so so proud of her as a friend.”
She also gave a perspective on pageants.
“Pageants are about bringing different people from different walks of life together and sharing stories. It may be a “competition”, but that doesn’t mean you should bash girls from other countries.”
She also gave a lesson for everyone to learn.
“Take out bitterness from your hearts and instead support each other. And be proud of all the girls. You don’t know how hard it is for them.”
She gave a little bit of wordplay about hurting and empowering people.
“Hurt people, hurt people. But… EMPOWERED PEOPLE, EMPOWER PEOPLE. May God bless you all.”
Then, she ended her Twitter thread with the dancing woman in red dress emoji.
Although the thought of her tweets was well-received, people just didn’t like… her.
One netizen replied to her tweets, “chos, empowering women ba yung naglo-lookdown ng past nung tao? wag ako, wag kami gurl!”
A netizen merely replied with a rolling eyes gif.
Another just gave her a flip or five, “Im no dds supporter but i still think youre shady. I just want to give you 5 flips”
But amid of all the haters, one netizen tweeted: “I luv you.”
