Maria Isabel Lopez may lose driver’s license for breaching ASEAN lane
Actress Maria Isabel Lopez proudly shared that she removed the divider cones and driving on the ASEAN lane on the night of November 11.
On her personal facebook account, the 1982 Binibining Pilipinas Universe 1982 titleholder said, “Driving with hazards “on” at the #aseanlane 😃 I removed the divider cones !! Then all the other motorists behind me followed! MMDA thinks I’m an official ASEAN delegate! If u can’t beat ‘em, join them! #nosticker #leadership #belikemaria #pasaway #selfpreservation 🙏🏽”

MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago told Inquirer in an interview that what Lopez did was a “serious breach of security.” “MMDA and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will now recommend to the Land Transportation Office the suspension or cancellation of Maria Isabel Lopez’s license,” she said.
UPDATE: In an interview by GMA News, Maria Isabel explained, “Pasaway naman talaga ako pero tao lang. I feel like a second class citizen in my country because of traffic caused by ASEAN lanes.”
