“Fallback” tackles options in life and love
Do you ever feel like you’ve ran out of guys/girls in this world? Or are you afraid to lose someone because of the chance of being heartbroken once again? If you’re both or even one of those mentioned, well, “Fallback” is a must-watch.
The movie revolves around the stressful life of a film location manager, Michelle (Rhian Ramos), who’s suffering both from heavy work and falling love life. One afternoon, she was advised by a colleague to explore her options and apply it not just in her field but also in relationships. Having a “fallback,” or a Plan B, appeared to be the character’s greatest resort in the situation she’s in.
Enter the ex-boyfriend, Alvin (Zanjoe Marudo), who’s obviously still in love with Michelle. He’s a struggling graphic artist who took for granted his relationship with Michelle before that’s why they broke up. On a chance encounter, the exes with all the history between them, reunite.
What I enjoyed most about this movie can be seen in these points:
Fresh Chemistry
First-time big screen tandem Rhian and Zanjoe totally showed no awkwardness in acting together. It’s as if they were friends for a long time and were offered the perfect movie. Their chemistry was natural and they suit each other!
This was also my first time to see Rhian channel her humorous side and I look forward for more.
Official Soundtrack
Iñigo Pascual’s singing can turn any song to an LSS-worthy one. His rendition of “A Little Bit” was used all-throughout the film and the audience couldn’t help but sing along. It matched the theme of the film and it sent kilig vibes to everyone.
Interesting plot
It’s not everyday people are vocal about their techniques in relationships. “Fallbacks” are almost taboo today because what we are used to are the rebounds and third parties, right? It’s nice to introduce a way for hopeless romantics to skip the heartbreak stage by having a Plan B. Though it’s not always advisable, in this time and day we have to be wiser in love.
“Fallback” stars Rhian Ramos and Zanjoe Marudo, produced by CineKo Productions and distributed by Star Cinema.
