Award-winning actor Christian Bables was replaced by Kapuso actor Martin del Rosario to play the role of ‘Barbs.’
In a recent interview of award-winning director Jun Lana with PEP.ph, he talked about the major changes of the much-awaited spin-off series of critically-acclaimed and commercially successful movie, “Die Beautiful.” Recently, it was reported that Kapuso actor Martin del Rosario will the new actor to play the role of ‘Barbs.’
Award-winning newbie actor Christian Bables, who first played the role of ‘Barbs’ ]reportedly backed out due to management decision. He was co-managed by Jun and his husband Perci Intalan under IdeaFirst Company with his manager Jeffrey Ambrosio.
“Wala na, pero we wish him well,” Direk Jun answered when asked if Christian is still under their management.
“Paano ko ba sasabihin ito? Basta, hindi na po siya puwede. Suddenly, naging busy po siya. And so, I think… They [Christian and manager] decided na yung priority niya ay yung kung anuman ang gusto niyang gawin,” he revealed why Christian need to withdraw from “Born Beautiful.”
Direk Jun also reacted on the official statement of Christian posted on the actor’s Instagram account.
“But, ang sasabihin ko lang kasi, after “Die Beautiful,” we had no plans at all na i-manage siya. Wala talaga, e.
But at the same time…
And we both agreed with what we wanted to happen.
“So, ni-let go na lang namin, kasi parang…
Pero dahil hindi nila na-honor yung mga napag-usapan namin, we decided na para wala na lang conflict, we just let go of Christian and we really wish him well,” he seriously said.
Direk Jun also insisted that Christian was aware about the agreement’s time frame.
“Alam niya because ilang beses kami nag-meeting, e. Ilang beses namin siyang inupo. Ipinaintindi namin sa kanya and he was very excited. At buung-buo yung plano namin: from film to TV to series, at may binubuo rin kaming stage play para sa kanya. As in buo. Kasi, gusto niyang maging theater actor, e. So, we’re willing to invest on those things just for him. But I guess, meron rin silang mga ganyang opportunity na nahanap nila,” he said.
On the other hand, Kapuso actor Martin del Rosario replaced Christian to give breath to the character of ‘Barbs’ in the spin-off series. Direk Jun also revealed that after the series, a movie featuring the life of Trishia Echeveria’s best friend will happen.
“Actually, sakaling wala siya sa sequel, ang plano ko kasi talaga is to do a series, then after that, do a movie. There’s going to be a movie kasi.
And doon sa pelikulang gagawin namin after this [Cignal] series. So, si Martin na rin yun,” he said.
Lastly, Direk Jun expressed his honest feeling on how he felt upon knowing that Christian will no longer play ‘Barbs.’
I feel betrayed! “Kaya ako betrayed, kasi, noong nangyari ang lahat nang ito, iniisip ko na, ‘Ay, one of these days, siguro, mag-uusap naman kami. Lalagpas din ito,’” he said.
