Denden Lazaro took a stand against bashers calling her “maldita” and “mayabang” on Twitter.
Dennise Michelle “Denden” Garcia Lazaro is a member of the Philippines Women’s National Volleyball Team.
Lazaro was among the most popular members of the Philippine Super Liga delegation that went to Bacolod over the weekend to play at the University of St. La Salle Gym. She and Cocolife had a big comeback against Cignal but the video took place at the lobby of L’Fisher Hotel in Bacolod.
The video circulated on Facebook posted on November 3, Friday by a user named Marya Ge-Ann Matsunaga. It was captioned, “A for ATTITUDE D for Denden Lazaro 🏐😂😂😂🙄🙄🙄🎉“
In the video, she walked towards a fan. The male fan raised his arm to put it around her shoulders. She moved away, took the picture and immediately walked away.
She was called “mataray,” “mayabang,” and “maldita” when she moved away from the male fan who wanted to wrap his arm around her shoulder. People told her that she was not a celebrity so she shouldn’t act like one.
She responded through Twitter where she apologized to people she had offended but didn’t apologize for being the real “her.”
“There are certain situations that make a person feel uncomfortable like when random people invade one’s personal space.”
“And to me personal space is something I highly value.”
“I apologize if I offended anybody with my action. But i don’t apologize for being me.”
“I’d like to thank everyone who has been sending me love & positivity. I really appreciate the support & understanding”
“To my friends & supporters, you are my rock”
She stated that she highly value her personal space and she also thanked everyone who has been sending her love and positivity.
