Antonio Contreras posted wrong interpretation of Rappler’s google ads.
De La Salle Professor and known DDS personality Antonio Contreras have been corrected by netizens with regards to his remarks against Rappler.
Contreras on Saturday chastised Rappler for apparently allowing obscene or explicit ads on its website.
On his Facebook page, Contreras claimed that one of his friends shared with him a screenshot of Rappler page containing adult-oriented ads.
Contreras rebuked Rappler for allowing obscenity on their page while espousing morality and journalistic ethics.
“Rappler complains about the ethics of a broadcaster allegedly threatening one of its reporters, but it doesn’t even bother choosing the kind of ads it allows to be published on its page.
Horribly disgusting! John Nery must be furious at this obscenity,” he wrote.
But apparently, Contreras don’t know how google ads work.
Netizen and social activist Tonyo Cruz on his Facebook page addressed Contreras on his naivety.
According to Cruz, ads are related to one’s browsing activities because of browser cookies. That is why if ever adult content ads appeared that is based on one’s browsing history.
“Google Ads appear based on *your* Google searches and *your* browser activity.
So if you see ads bearing the word “kantot” or “fuck”, that is the outcome of Google and Chrome taking note of the “kantot” and “fuck” you have Googled,” he said.
Other netizens also commented on how Contreras missed the very basic concept of google ads.
