Tony Calvento passes away after battling cancer.
Veteran journalist, columnist and former TV personality Tony Calvento has passed away.
According to his son Sonny Calvento, Tony died Monday, October 9, 2017. Calvento’s remains lie in state at Chapel 3 of The Heritage Park in Taguig. Funeral service will be held between October 10 to 13 at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
While no details regarding the cause of his death were given, Philstar on their Facebook page confirmed that Tony Calvento died after battling cancer.
Calvento currently writes for Philippine Star’s “Calvento Files” column.
Aside from being a journalist and columnist, Tony Calvento has also made a name for himself in Television.
Calvento hosted ABS-CBN’s crime and investigative docu-drama “Calvento Files”. Calvento’s program lasted for almost 3 years, from December 4, 1995 – October 2, 1998.
Prior to his death, Tony Calvento figured in a controversy with Vice Ganda. Calvento threatened to sue Vice Ganda after the latter made fun of him.
But after Vice Ganda issued a public apology, Calvento did not proceed with filing a case.
Tony Calvento’s remains is scheduled to be cremated on October 14, 2017.
