Senator Bam Aquino confronts Mocha Uson during the Senate hearing on fake news.

Mocha insisted blogging is opinion based and doesn’t call for fairness.
Senator Paolo Benigno Aquino IV lambasted PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson on the latter’s claim that mainstream media hasn’t been fair to her.
During the Senate hearing on the proliferation of fake news, Wednesday, October 4, Senator Bam Aquino lambasted Uson on her complaint that media are biased against her because they weren’t keen on getting her side about certain issues.
Aquino said Mocha’s claims are hypocritical because she herself wasn’t practicing fairness on her blog posts.
“Sa dinami-daming mga blog mo tungkol sa amin dito may isang beses ba na humingi ka ng side namin?” he said.
Sen. Aquino was the subject of Uson’s post last Monday, October 2.
Uson, on her Facebook post, shared Thinking Pinoys post linking Senator Aquino to Cocoy Dayao, the person Duterte supporters suspected as the person behind Pinoy Blog Ako and Silent No More PH blogs.
Meanwhile, Uson replied she was just a blogger and she is not covered by any journalistic ethics and or standards. She insisted that what she’s doing on her blog are pure opinions which she is entitled to.
“With all due respect, your honor, hindi po ako journalist… Blogger ako. Hindi ako journalist,” said Uson.
But the Senator continued demanding answer from Uson on whether she gets the sides of people she made subject in her blog posts.
But Mocha remained mum saying she has the right to refused to answer the Senator’s question.
“Uh, I have the right to refuse that question,” Uson answered.
Pounding on Uson’s reply, Senator Bam said she has no right to refuse to answers but the right against self-incrimination to which Mocha answered.
“I have the right to… I have a right… I have the right… ano po? I have the right to… against self- discri… ano, against self-incrimination… Sensya na.”
The exchange between the two stemmed from Mocha’s claim that GMA News was unfair for not getting her side on their news report regarding entering a mosque with her boots on and without wearing hijab.
Mocha claimed GMA Network published fake news about her because she wasn’t taking selfie that time but was merely documenting President Rodrigo Duterte’s trip to Marawi City.
