The 50-year old actor-comedian reveals how his wife Regine Velasquez was able to overcome her challenges in performing.
On the exclusive interview of the veteran singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid with PUSH.com, the 50 year old actor shared some details on his upcoming concert, “The Soundtrack of My Life.”
Ogie revealed that his family will be the special guests on his concert at Resorts World. He also said that his repertoire will span many generations
“I’m so honored that Resorts World has invited me to perform on November 30th and it’s going to be very special because it’s called The Soundtrack of My Life. Well the sound track of my life is actually my family. The things that have happened in my family. And because of what I have achieved with my family through the music that has breathed through me by God, this is me now. Yan ang life ko talaga eh, my family, my wife of course and my children. I have three kids as you know. I have a 19-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a five-year-old who thinks he’s 47 years old .”
“It’s going to be really wild. Siyempre the songs are romantic, emotional, there’s going to be comedy which a lot of the young and old people like and since nandiyan naman yung anak ko, there’s the music for the millennials also. So the whole family can come. Kung gusto niyo mag-romantic date puwede din. It’s for everybody. I think I’m going to be singing 19 to 20 songs. May mga dalawang medleys. Isang gabing talagang mag-si-sing along kayo kasi the songs are all memorable. Regine will be the guest. I think she’s doing two duets and two spots with me. Actually si Nate at si Leila will be singing one song with me kasi parang nainggit ako kay Regine kumanta with Nate (sa concert niya), dapat ako rin(laughs). Pero hindi ko pa nakakausap si Nate eh. Kanina ko lang naisip eh. So kakausapin ko pa yung dalawang anak ko,” he added.
On the other hand, Ogie also revealed that his wife Regine Velasquez’ preparation for her R.30 Concert was not easy.
“For my concert, yung isa sa mga duet namin ni Regine na sinulat ko para kay God which is ‘The Lord is my Savior’ so we will be singing that. Parang testimony na rin namin ni misis yun kung papaano nagiging malakas para sa isa’t isa. Alam mo, sobra akong proud sa kanya kasi nung etong dalawang gabing nag-concert siya sa MOA, hindi naman kaila sa lahat na meron siyang dinadamdam nun sa boses niya and it was a struggle for her and then this whole monthang mantra niya was Philippians 4:13 /I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ Every day yun sinasalita niya yun and nakita ko talaga nung dalawang gabi sa MOAkung papaano talaga si God talaga yung gumalaw doon. Makikita mo eh sa movement ng mga tao, sa pag-appreciate sa kanya, sa pagmamahal ng tao sa kanya, ang gara. Ang galing sobra. That’s why I’m so proud of her,” he shared
During the R.30 concert, Regine revealed to his husband how she almost lost her confidence.
“Actually nagulat ako dun kasi she asked me to lead the prayer so I was leading the prayer then bigla na lang nakaluhod na siya and it was just a sign of total surrender. Ang galing. Grabe yung asawa ko. Bilang mag-asawa siyempre sa akin lang niya shini-share yun. And as artists minsan mahirap aminin yun, yung parang hindi ko na kaya, yung ganun. And siyempre I was only there to tell her, ‘Hindi hon, kaya mo yan.’ Iba pa rin eh pag ikaw na mismo yung nandun, ikaw mismo haharap sa entablado di ba so it was really a different sort of strength that she got. It was really from God. Kaya ganyan yungextreme joy na nararamdaman niya eh. You can imagine yung pinanggalingan niya from the last concert di ba nawalan siya ng boses? I think it was also a way of God saying, ‘Anak, kaya ko yan tanggalin sa iyo any time. Kung mangyari man yan, saan ka lilingon? Sa akin din di ba?’ I think that was yung naging realization din ng asawa ko and it was so powerful for her. Amazing,” he said.
