Bb. Pilipinas-International Mariel de Leon’s tweet over Joey de Leon’s depression statements received negative comments from netizens. The 23-year old beauty queen then deleted her tweet and made her Twitter account private.
“Depression isn’t a joke. Same last name, but thank God we’re not related. Ew. Shame on him and people who think like him,” Mariel tweeted as a disapproval to “Eat Bulaga!” host Joey de Leon.
This particular tweet received mixed reactions, mostly negative from the netizens.
“Be a Bella and Maine in the world full of Mariel De Leon. Being vocal is different from being disrespectful.”

On the other hand, Mariel’s mother, veteran-actress Sandy Andolong revealed that she talked to her daughter after reading the tweet.
According to Gorgy Rula on his column in Abante-Tonite, “Nagkausap na raw sila ni Mariel at napagsabihan na niya (Sandy Andolong). Nag-post naman daw si Mariel ng sarili niyang pananaw pagtapos mag-sorry ni Tito Joey.”
