OPS clarified controversial Facebook comment.
TV5 broadcaster Lourd de Veyra slammed the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson after its Facebook live blunder.
On his Twitter account, De Veyra chides the OPS saying that kind of government work costs the people’s taxes.
“People of the Philippines, this is where your taxes go” De Veyra tweeted.
Lourd was referring to the comment by the official and verified Facebook page of the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson during a Facebook live session.
During the Thursday’s (October 26) Mindanao hour facilitated by the OPS and was covered live on their Facebook page, a certain comment from their Facebook account caught the attention of the netizens.
In the comment, the OPS Facebook page said “si pia at si lourd [devera] pantay na sa kakupalan“.
To roughly translate it into English would mean, Pia and Lourd are equal for being jerks.
While the post was already deleted, netizens already captured the comment and spread it on social media.
Meanwhile, also on their Facebook page, the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson already clarified the controversial comment throwing insult to a certain Pia and Lourd De Veyra.
In a statement, the OPS said the comment was made by a former page administrator who is no longer connected to their office but still has access to the page during that time. It said that the comment written by that particular person was not reflective of the sentiments and views of the Presidential Spokesperson or the office itself. Furthermore, it was also stated that the access rights of that person was immediately removed following the blunder.
Here’s the complete statement of the Office of the Presidential Spokesperson on the Facebook live comment issue.
“On the OPS Mindanao Hour thread comment
The Office of the Presidential Spokesperson (OPS) wishes to clarify the comment made in the official OPS page during today’s Mindanao Hour press briefing.
