“Wansapanataym,” a TV series that imparts valuable lessons and promotes good values to viewers, bagged a nomination for best TV movie/mini-series category in the 2017 International Emmy Kids Awards and the only Philippine TV show that made it to the prestigious award-giving body.
The show earned its nomination for its “Candy’s Crush” episode, which starred Loisa Andalio and Jerome Ponce. It revolved around the life of Candy (Loisa), a young lady who got punished after using a magic potion to make the campus heartthrob Paolo (Jerome) fall in love with her. It was directed by Andoy Ranay and aired in June 2016.
It will be competing against Netherlands’ “Alleen op de Wereld (Nobody’s Boy),” United Kingdom’s “Hank Zipzer’s Christmas Catastrophe,” and Australia’s “Little Lunch.” The awards show will take place on April 18, 2018.
Aside from “Wansapantaym,” “TV Patrol” also received a nomination and finished as a finalist at the 2017 International Emmy Awards for news and current affairs last October 5.
Kapamilya actor Zanjoe Marudo was also recently nominated at the award-giving body in the top male acting honor category for his notable performance in “MMK,” where he portrayed a father who single-handedly raised his child while living inside a cave.
ABS-CBN previously scored International Emmy Awards nominations for Jodi Sta. Maria (“Pangako Sa ‘Yo”) and “Bridges of Love” in 2016, “Precious Hearts Romances Presents: Impostor” (Best Telenovela) in 2011, “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (Best Telenovela) and Sid Lucero in “Dahil May Isang Ikaw” (Best Actor) in 2010, and “Kahit Isang Saglit” (Best Telenovela) and Angel Locsin in “Lobo” (Best Actress) in 2009.
It is also not the first time that ABS-CBN bagged a nomination in the news category. In 2011, “TV Patrol” received its first Emmy medal for its coverage of the Luneta hostage crisis in August 2010. Its weekend edition was also nominated in 2013 for its coverage during the super typhoon Haiyan.
Another ABS-CBN news and current affairs program, “Bandila” nabbed the Philippine’s first nomination in International Emmys for its report on the Subic rape case in 2006.
Meanwhile, “Wansapanataym” continues to bring values-laden stories with its current series “Louie’s Biton.” After experiencing the life of his idol Ralph (Aljur Abrenica) with the help of the magic shoe shiner, Louie (Grae Fernandez) now takes on the life of Melissa (Louise Delos Reyes) to fix the mistakes he made using her body.
Will Louie succeed with his plans now that he is on Melissa’s body?
