After their face-off on DZMM TeleRadyo that spawned numerous TV guestings, Karen Davila and social media sensation “KaladKaren Davila” or Jervi Li in real life are sharing the screen again in “My Puhunan.”
KaladKaren will get to host a segment in the award-winning program, which she also parodied in a couple of videos that went viral on the internet. Catch her as she gets to know the story of millennial entrepreneur Polsan Pangindian, the owner of “Above Sea Level” seafood restaurant, which has branched out in seven locations already despite opening only last December. She will also get to sample the bestseller off the menu, which is the Giant Butterfly Squid.
The real Karen, meanwhile, will share the success story of Mario Ocampo, the owner of Marty’s Garments who used to be a houseboy. As a young man, Mario was determined to finish his studies and was never fazed by natural disasters when he started his business. Through his will and perseverance, Mario prevailed and is now managing his own garments business, apart from acquiring several properties.
Karen first got to interview her talented impersonator in “Pasada Sais Trenta,” where it was revealed that they studied the same course – Broadcast Communication – in UP Diliman. Jervi said “Kaladkaren” was born last year, when her organization UP SAMASKOM did a spoof of the presidential debate. The character was resurrected in a viral video of her crossing a river where she introduced herself as one of the anchors of former ABS-CBN investigative program “The Correspondents.”
Apart from sharing the same school with her idol, KaladKaren also showed she is not afraid to discuss important issues like the “My Puhunan” anchor. In her DZMM interview, she said she believes in the cause for LGBT rights while she is against Death Penalty. However, Jervi emphasized that her “Kaladkaren” persona is strictly non-political and meant to spread only good vibes.
Since then, she has also guested on other ABS-CBN shows such as “Gandang Gabi Vice,” “ASAP,” “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” “Magandang Buhay,” and “Umagang Kay Ganda.”
Karen, meanwhile, has given her full support to KaladKaren, whom she said is one of the best impersonators of her that she has seen. She said, “I want to see you succeed because I believe you are extremely talented. And all talented people should be given support. You can be bigger than you could imagine.”
