Jake’s grandmother, Lola Thess, graced the concert with her presence
Full of emotions, that’s how 25-year-old singer Jake Zyrus performed various songs during his first-ever concert at the Music Museum last October 6. He sang duets and danced on production numbers with many OPM artists and group namely, KZ Tandingan, Erik Santos, Young JV, Klarisse de Guzman, and Boyband PH.
Formerly Charice Pempengco, Jake came out as a trans man months before this event. Since then, he gained mixed reactions from the public because of the various changes his body and voice underwent. He admitted that he’s taking testosterone shots at the moment and went for mastectomy (removal of breast) in order to achieve his transformation in becoming a man.

What fans and the audience witnessed on his concert was the pure talent innate Jake. Despite the change in his tone and looks, no one can take away his passion for music and performing. It showed evident as he serenaded the crowd of Music Museum.
Among the people that supported Jake’s night was his grandmother, Lola Thess. Jake revealed that it was the first time his grandmother had ever watched him on stage for a concert.
“First time na manood ni Nanay ng concert ko. I’m so proud na first time niya ‘ko mapanood at ganito na ako.”
Tearfully, Jake sang “Maghintay Ka Lamang” and dedicated the number to his family. He become emotional as the song resonated the struggles he went through just to be accepted as he is.
“I love you, Nanay.”
When Jake slowly approached his Lola in the audience, that’s when tears flowed. He hugged his grandmother tightly and whispered grateful words, to which Lola Thess responded with, “I love you.”
Another notable part of the concert was the duet of Jake Zyrus and his former self, Charice for “Before It Explodes.”
