The 22-year old newbie actor shared preparations for his first ever leading man role in a film.
Kapuso hunk David Licuaco will debut on his first film under Regal Films. The 22-year old actor will star with “Artista Academy” alumnus Shaira Mae Dela Cruz on the upcoming romantic comedy film, “Flames Of Summer.”
On his recent interview with PEP.ph during the press launch of BlueWater Day Spa, David shared he is overwhelmed with the movie project as a newbie actor. “Siyempre, it’s overwhelming kasi I’ve been in this industry last year lang. I started with “Mulawin” last February so basically, kakapasok ko lang talaga sa GMA,” he stated.
“Parang meydo overwhelming na lead ako kaagad pero siyempre, sino naman ang tatanggi sa ganun offer. So ayun, I’m just gonna do my best every time,” he added.
David, however, did not disclosed additional information about the movie but he shared that his character is quite similar to him. “It’s a romantic-comedy, and actually medyo same sa akin kaya siguro ako yung kinuha nila. Kasi gusto nila medyo Chinese, mukhang rich kid, parang basically medyo ganun ako. So I guess, may be that’s why I got the role, because of it,” he said.
The Kapuso hunk also shared his preparation for his first ever leading man role in a movie. He is currently doing acting workshops with acting coach Anne Villegas. He revealed that he is more enjoying showbiz than sports.
“I’m doing workshops every day, intensive training talaga. And then, working on my craft like reading books, para siyempre mas lumawak yung pagiging artist ko,” he said.
“I like being an athlete but I like the challenge of being here in showbiz. Kumbaga, hindi siya comfort zone for me. Pag athlete kasi di ba, parang medyo tahimik ka lang… gusto mo cool ka lang. In showbiz, you have to really get out of your comfort zone,” he shared.
As a newbie actor, David wants to achieve more as an actor.
“Siyempre ano, since I have my own movie, it’s a milestone na rin. Pero siyempre more projects and let’s see, if it’s really for me, it’s for me. “Pero yun nga, I’m gonna do my best and work hard, learn what has to be learned for me to get better. I’m very passionate naman with what I do as long as love ko siya.”
