It was not made secret that the person who wrote the screenplay of Star Cinema’s newest film “Last Night,” is none other than the beautiful Kapamilya actress Bela Padilla

Bela collaborated with ex-boyfriend film producer Neil Arce and Director Joyce Bernal to show a film that audience have never seen before
After having to watch both of 26-year-old Bela Padilla’s works, “Luck At First Sight,” and the latest “Last Night,” I think I have now a clearer view of the magic happening inside the mind of this screenplay writer. She’s obviously more than what you think she is, from being a versatile actress to a creative filmmaker. No wonder, both movies tugged my heartstrings.
“Last Night” follows the story of two troubled characters (played by Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual) at their lowest point in life. They met at a very dark moment and somehow found the light in each other. When I first watched the trailer, I really had no idea how the story would go, unlike most of the others. It was both unusual and thrilling, all the more reason to get excited about.
Bela used Magical Realism again on this one, like how she had written “Luck At First Sight.” She put together magical elements and alternate realities to produce a one-of-a-kind plot that no one could ever predict. Believe me, I tried to somehow conclude the story but I failed. It’s not a cliche.
This movie marked the reunion of Toni and Piolo, since their first big screen outing in 2014’s blockbuster movie “Starting Over Again.” They contributed to the beauty of the film, if it wasn’t for them, a story like that wouldn’t be executed properly. Thanks to their resilient chemistry and incomparable acting.
The direction of Bb. Joyce Bernal topped it off. Using her mastery in film, she too, took part in telling this unique love story. Bela’s ex-boyfriend Neil Arce helped her in writing. Despite not being together anymore, the two found no hindrance in creating a masterpiece.
“Last Night” will make you realize the value of life and the people surrounding it in the most surreal and bittersweet way.
What are you waiting for? Head to the nearest cinemas and treat yourself to a worthwhile film!
Congratulations, Bela!
