Apparently, the demand for K-Drama, K-Pop, and Korean artists are slowly endangering the local entertainment industry
More and more Filipinos join the bandwagon that is the love for the Korean culture. From their romantic or comedy drama series to their music, fashion, and their artists, people continue to follow the track whether online or in TV.
Dubbed as Korean Invasion, is the ever-growing hype of not just teens but also adults on almost anything related to Korean culture. They’re indeed everywhere, you can see billboards of the handsome and beautiful popular Korean artists on the streets or inside malls.
You can watch them at home as they are now already part of some teleseryes in showbiz networks.
What worries the fans of the country’s entertainment industry is the possibility of them completely dominating the local limelight. It’s a point not to ignore because the current situation in the business stands evident of the claim.
Just last month, GMA Network introduced their first-ever K-Drama inspired series “My Korean Jagiya,” starring Kapuso actress Heart Evangelista and two Korean imports: Alexander Lee and Kim Jung-wook. After its airing, some concerns sparked online, questioning the effect of Korean Invasion.
Some showbiz experts argue that there’s no shortage in our local artists. In fact, there’s a surplus. There are more celebrities in the scene that are not being provided with projects. They resort to compromise.
“Kinain na ng sistema,” is the popular term for K-Drama and K-Pop lovers. Are you one of them?
