Jam Sisante received death threats after covering Sen. Trillanes trip to Singapore.
GMA newscaster Ivan Mayrina came to the defense of colleague Jam Sisante.
In a Facebook post, Mayrina said Sisante was only doing her job as a Senate reporter when she reported Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV’s trip to Singapore, thus, she don’t deserve to he harassed or threatened.
“Jam is GMA News’ Senate reporter. The event was a legit Senate story. She was doing her job.,” he wrote.
The post was triggered by the death threats received by Sisante right after the airing of her news report on “24 Oras.”
“Shortly after her report aired over 24 Oras, she received a nasty message. Magkano daw ba ang binayad sa kanya? Ingat daw siya at baka matagpuan na lang siya na nakasilid sa sako.,” he added.
[Shortly after her report aired over 24 Oras, she received a nasty message. How much was she paid? She better be careful because she might end up inside a sack.]
Jam Sisante is the GMA News correspondent who went to Singapore to cover Sen. Trillanes trip to the Development Bank of Singapore (DBS) to disprove President Duterte’s allegations that he has illegal money deposited on that bank.
Here’s the complete Facebook post of Ivan Mayrina regarding the threats against Jam Sisante.
“So my friend and colleague Jam Sisante covered Senator Trillanes in Singapore and reported the news about the non-existence of his supposed accounts in a bank there. Shortly after her report aired over 24 Oras, she received a nasty message. Magkano daw ba ang binayad sa kanya? Ingat daw siya at baka matagpuan na lang siya na nakasilid sa sako.
First: Jam is GMA News’ Senate reporter. The event was a legit Senate story. She was doing her job.
Second: Hindi mo nagustuhan ang report niya. Hindi tumugma sa paniniwala mo ang ni-report niya. So you accuse her of being corrupt? And corruption justifies murder?!
People, let’s get this straight. Enough of shooting the messenger. Trabaho namin ang mag-cover at mag-report. At kapag nag-report kami ng labag sa paniniwala mo, that doesn’t make us paid hacks and should not make us targets of your murderous rage.
You know what we call it? Simply, OUR JOB.”
