Vice didn’t close his doors on being a director someday but he said that he couldn’t do it with his current schedule
41-year-old Kapamilya host and comedian Vice Ganda shared his sentiments regarding his rejection to direct last year’s comedy film “The Super Parental Guardians (TSPG)” with “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” actor Coco Martin.
It can be recalled that “The Super Parental Guardians (TSPG)” was Vice’s first movie without Director Wenn Deramas, who passed away due to cardiac arrest last February 2016.
Direk Wenn was one of the brains behind the comedian’s box-office records for the last six years via The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin (2011); Sisterakas (2012); Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy (2013); The Amazing Praybeyt Benjamin (2014); Beauty and the Bestie (2015). When he died, Vice was left with pressure and grief that he got offered to direct his own movie that year.
However, Vice decided not to accept this opportunity mainly because of his hectic schedule.
“Pero ako mismo ang nagsabing, ‘I cannot do it.’ Kasi I have a daily show, Showtime, and it would be very hard napagsabayin ko ’yong dalawa sa paggawa ng pelikula.”
The “Gandang Gabi Vice” host expressed a grateful heart for the offer. He really felt that the staff trusts him to even think of giving him the power to direct the film.
“Nakakatuwa kasi pinaparamdam nila ’yon faith nila,sa akin, ’yong belief nila pinararamdam nila, ’yong support ’binibigay nila.”
Despite the overflowing blessings, most people don’t know that Vice still carries some insecurities in his system. On his observation, he thinks that his ‘shining moment’ had already passed.
“I thought parang tapos na ’yong moment ko. Lahat naman, may schedule ’yan ng moment. Bawat artist, bawat performer, lahat naman kami, may moment to shine.”
Meanwhile, Vice remains “work mode” with his upcoming official movie entry to the 2017 Metro Manila Film Festival entitled “The Revengers,” starring Daniel Padilla and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach.
