Not a single day passed by without the news showing another victim of the government’s ongoing war against illegal drugs. “Nanlaban,” that’s the famous line our local police stand by with whenever a casualty is reported.
Let’s face it, there has been little of change since these killing spree had began. A change in our population, perhaps, could be the most obvious above all. However, the majority of the people are not fans of this “justice.”
Staunch oppositions from netizens are all over social media. Along with the noise are the voices of our very own celebrities, agreeing to those who believe in a better way to minimize crime in the nation.
The tragic deaths of 17-year-old Kian Delos Santos and his companion 14-year-old Reynaldo caught much attention online and people now couldn’t stop condemning the increasing number of violence. According to them, instead of feeling safer, they are even fearful to go outside because of the spree.

Mike De Leon quoted, “In this environment, extrajudicial killings continue unabated under the guise of a war against illegal drugs, the Constitution and rule of law are blatantly disregarded, political leaders and even Supreme Court justices are cowed into submission and a professional army of social media trolls viciously attacks online dissent.”
Known for her vocal opposition of President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, veteran actress Agot Isidro joined in the Twitter rage.
