Atom was earlier seen inside the headquarters of GMA Network and speculations of transfer emerged
34-year-old TV news reporter and renowned journalist Atom Araullo is the hot topic on social media due to his much-publicized resignation from ABS-CBN after ten years of serving as part of their News and Current Affairs team.
In a statement he published on September 15, Atom shared how grateful he is for being a Kapamilya.
“Although I am taking a new path, I have nothing but respect and gratitude for the company that helped me become the journalist I am today,” he said. “To all the hardworking men and women of ABS-CBN, maraming maraming salamat.”
On the other hand, ABS-CBN wished the reporter good luck on his future endeavors.
“Atom says the training and exposure he got from the network as a reporter and TV host have equipped him to try out other opportunities in the media industry here and abroad,” read the network’s statement on his departure.
However, just days after he left ABS-CBN, a photo of him inside the lobby of GMA Network in Kamuning surface in social media. This lead netizens to suspect that the journalist will return where he first started his career.
There were even reports saying that Atom will sign a contract for Kapuso on September 21.
Among Atom’s notable recognitions while in ABS-CBN were, a bronze world medal at the New York Festivals Awards for his documentary “Warmer” in April 2017, Best Public Service Program Host for his show “Red Alert,” and the one the SUPER (Salute to Unparalled People, Endeavours and Resources) Awards for his remarkable dedication to coverage on Yolanda (Typhoon Haiyan) disaster.
Atom also ventured into acting for upcoming film, “Citizen Jake.”
