Agot stressed that people should learn from that tragic experience in the past so it wouldn’t be repeated
51-year-old famous TV personality Agot Isidro joined thousands of Filipino activists and fellow celebrities last Thursday, September 21, at Luneta Park to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines.
The Movement Against Tyranny (MAT) conducted a rally in line with the National Day of Protest. MAT was founded on August 28 as a group that condemns the death of Kian delos Santos and the youth who were involved in the gruesome war on drugs of President Rodrigo Duterte.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Agot stand her ground on her opposition to this policy of our current administration.
“Siguro kailangan lang talaga gunitain natin yung nangyari nung martial law.
“Kasi there’s always, you know… our society now is very fragile.
“Hindi natin alam kung anong mga susunod na mangyayari.
“So, kailangan ginugunita natin yung mga nangyari dati para matuto tayo at hindi ito maulit.”
Agot is among the Filipinos who remains vocal about their defiance against Duterte’s way of eliminating criminality in the country. It can be remembered that in August 2016 she called the President a “psychopath” because of his hatred towards the United States.
To this date, Agot hasn’t changed her views.
“Something inside me just… nag-awaken sa akin.
“Kasi na-turn off ako sa mga pagmumura. Kasi napaka-basic nun, e, di ba?
“Yung pagmumura, hindi lang ng kung sinu-sino, pati head of the state, minumura.”
Agot shared that she had always given the government a chance to prove her wrong but with what she sees right now, the constant killings and the unlawful remarks, she couldn’t really stand it.
Tapos, nakikita ko yung patayan. Kailangan bang patayin?
“Di ba, may rule of law? May proseso ‘yan, e. Bakit kailangang patayin?
“Saka hindi naman porke’t gumagamit, kailangang patayin… misguided.
“I really think it’s a social and health issue, not a criminal.”
Despite the growing amount of basher she regularly gets from hating on the President, Agot is firm on her belief that lives should be valued and that there’s a due process that should be followed.
